Set within the West Wycombe Estate and surrounded by thousands of acres of stunning countryside, E.J. Churchill Shooting Ground enjoys a beautiful rural setting in Buckinghamshire.

We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic, hardworking, and motivated Grounds Person to join our team. As part of the grounds team, you will support and welcome both members and non-members for shooting activities, including Clay Pigeon Shooting, use of the Air Rifle Range, and Simulated Game Days. Ground staff are required to carry out work on-site and on other estates.

This is a full-time or part-time position, requiring availability five days per week, including some weekends and evenings.
Responsible to: Shooting Grounds Manager / Head Grounds Person
Main Duties and Responsibilities

Ensuring all areas of the ground are kept tidy and well-maintained, including shooting stands, grass cutting, paths, trees, plants, and shrubbery.

Daily opening of the ground and filling of traps.

Ensuring all traps are serviced and fully functional at all times.

Working alongside the team to design exciting, interesting, and enjoyable shoot layouts, continually updating traps and targets to guarantee the best customer experience.

Assisting in the setup and running of charity shoots and CPSA-registered competitions both on-site and off-site at various annual E.J. Churchill events.

Performing general maintenance and repairs on traps and ground care machinery.

Keeping all areas of the ground free from excessive wadding and shatter.

Assisting in the setup of corporate events outside of shooting activities.

Carrying out general maintenance around the lodge as required and undertaking any other duties necessary for the efficient operation of the company.

Health and Safety

All staff have a duty of care to work within the guidance of the company’s Health and Safety Policy. Any breaches of policy or concerns regarding health and safety should be reported to the Company Health and Safety Advisor.

The Grounds Person must maintain an acute awareness of gun safety and general security around the Lodge and Shooting Grounds, abiding by company procedures at all times.

The Grounds Person must ensure that all clients are aware of club safety rules and procedures and provide them with the relevant safety equipment accordingly.

Experience / Qualifications

Required:

Full, clean driving licence
​
Desirable:

Grass cutting and strimming experience
-
Experience driving All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs)

Shotgun licence
-
Shooting experience

This role is ideal for someone with a passion for the countryside and country sports, whether they have experience as a gamekeeper, gardener, farmer, or any other outdoor profession. Full training and tuition will be provided for the right candidate.
